santa hard french cruz

for friendship and wanderlust, i drove to santa cruz this past weekend. Hard French, this crazy uberqueer prom meets studio54 meets old hollywood meets bullied kids’ corner party was going on and i wanted to drink and not think.

santa cruz is quite lovely. it has cold water, boisterous waves and lots of signs declaring the prohibition of things. No Gangs! No alcohol! No dogs! No Smoking! It was the first weekend in a while where I broke all these rules at once. tsk tsk.

i drove alone up and alone back. chunks of time passed where i thought about nothing but keeping my foot firmly pressed on the gas pedal and my oversized vehicle in between the two white lines. it’s funny because the forced isolation didn’t feel all that different from the unforced isolation i feel a lot of the time in LA. thoughts brickbreakering back and forth; a true zero-sum gain.

i don’t know where this is going. but i do know it was a nice and weird weekend and it reminded me that i have so many things. things are pretty good, in fact.
